Vitamin B12 is a water-soluble vitamin of the B group. It participates in DNA synthesis, myelination in the nervous system, blood formation and other important metabolic functions.
It is active in fatty acid synthesis and in detoxifying homocysteine into methionine. The vitamin is found in particular in animal protein, for example in meat, liver, kidneys, fish, oysters, milk and egg yolk.
In nature and foodstuffs vitamin B12 occurs in various compounds. Our body, however, can only use two of these compounds, methylcobalamin and adenosylcobalamin. Conversion does not occur in either of the compounds.
A Swedish research group based around Dr. Ahlrot-Westerlund established that better results can be achieved with a methylcobalamin compound than with compounds which first have to be converted.
The vitamin B12 contained in this product is directly available to the body as it doesn't need to be converted first, unlike the other vitamin B12 compound cyanocobalamin. Free of lactose, gluten and fructose; vegan
